The SunWalk Newcastle has been cancelled...but...
We will be back!
The first SunWalk in Newcastle has had to be cancelled due to the terrible weather conditions that look to persist over the weekend. Earlier on Saturday many areas of the planned routes have been flooded by rivers and lakes bursting their banks, and The SunWalk site itself is in danger of flooding. For the safety of all those taking part we have had to make this very difficult decision of cancelling this special day.
This is the first time in 11 years that we have had to take such action, but we are not deterred, mother nature may have won this day but in the coming weeks we will be meeting with Newcastle Council to discuss re-scheduling the event. All your entries will be honored and as soon as we have any details we will let you know.
In the meantime put your sponsors on hold...and just keep walking and uniting with us against breast cancer.... you can be sure WE WILL BE BACK!.

Even though we are extremely disappointed by the decision we had to take on Saturday we have been overwhelmed by the emails and phone calls of support we have received from walkers and volunteers. It was such a difficult thing to do so you can imagine that they mean so much to us.

We were really disappointed not to be able to do the event on Sunday - but when we tried to make our way to Exhibition Park on the Saturday afternoon, before we knew about the cancellation, and found that we would need to swim through the underpass to get to Exhibition Park (!) we could understand the difficulties of running the event safely. We had a good weekend out in Newcastle and enjoyed getting to know the city.
